Risë Straight Hanifan
Director of Christian Education
Risë Straight Hanifan is the Director of Christian Education. Risë graduated from Buckhannon-Upshur High School in 1998, from West Virginia Wesleyan College in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, magna cum laude, and she received a Master of Arts in Christian Education with a specialization in youth ministry in 2007 from Methodist Theological School in Ohio. She has previously served as a campus minister with students at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio at Summit on 16th – A United Methodist Congregation. From there she served as Director of Youth Ministries at First United Methodist Church in Clarksburg, WV. Risë came to Chapel Hill in November of 2009, although she has been in this congregation since birth. She is married to Shawn Hanifan.
Administrative Assistant and Financial Secretary
Diane was born and raised in Buckhannon, attended B-UHS and was married to Wayne Kimble in 1970. Diane has two adult children: Anna Leigh Rice and Jimmy and his wife, Collette Kimble, four grandchildren: Desiree King, Kassidy Kimble, Taylor Rice, and Isaac Kimble. She enjoys every aspect of my work here at Chapel Hill but she also has a business, Diane’s Sew ‘n’ So (an upholstery & sewing business), which she operates from her home. She also enjoys cooking and is one of the coordinators of the church’s Wednesday Night Dinners which was started close to 9 years ago and has been a regular weekly event.
She enjoys spending time with her grandchildren and watching them play their various sports. She loves to sing, especially gospel music, as often as she can. She also enjoys her 1930 Ford T-bucket and attending car shows.
Director of Music Ministries
Pam Walling has been director of Music Ministries since spring of 1997. She received her Bachelor of Music Education degree, cum laude, from West Virginia University and Master of Science in Music Education from Radford University. A retired music teacher of 30 years, Pam continues to attend conferences and is a member of The Fellowship of United Methodists in Music and Worship Arts. Pam was music director of the WV United Methodist Annual Conference in 2002 and 2003 . She is an experienced performer, conductor, teacher, and worship designer.
She and her husband, Bob reside in Bridgeport, WV with their dog, Kiley. They have 3 children and 8 grandchildren. Pam feels blessed to have many talented volunteers that sing, ring, and play to the glory of God.
